NEW FINAL LOOK: When Richard Nixon returned...
NEW FINAL LOOK: When Richard Nixon returned to San Clemente after his Aug. 9, 1974, resignation, one White House aide to join him was Frank Gannon, who helped Nixon prepare his “RN” memoirs. Gannon has since produced a video series on the Nixon White House. Included: “Final 28 Days of the Presidency”. . . . On Monday, the eve of the resignation’s 20th anniversary, Gannon will show the video and discuss those last days, at the Richard Nixon Library & Birthplace in Yorba Linda.
HAPPY HAUNT: In a family discussion about Disneyland’s best attractions, someone’s favorite is almost always the Haunted Mansion. If you’re at Disneyland Tuesday, you’ll be there for its 25th anniversary. It’s an antebellum Southern edifice filled with 999 illusionary ghosts--one even hitchhikes onto your “doom” buggy as you ride out. . . . There’s a ceremony at 10 a.m. that day to celebrate. And if you can stand it, they’re calling it a “Re dead ication. .”
HAPPY ENDINGS: When struggling to become a sports agent back in the 1980s, Newport Beach attorney Jeffrey S. Moorad (E1) was delighted to discover that Lucy Semeniuk, another lawyer at the firm where he worked, had dated super-agent Leigh Steinberg back during college. . . . Moorad asked her for an introduction, and it worked--spectacularly. Now Moorad is Steinberg’s partner . . . and now Semeniuk is Steinberg’s wife.
PERSONAL DANGER: This may not grab your attention when you see the new Harrison Ford thriller, “Clear and Present Danger,” but key to the plot: There’s hot information placed in a Tapestry Running Mate edition of the Day Runner personal organizer. The people who care most, of course, are those at Day Runner, based in Fullerton. They were so pleased, they sent personal organizers to members of the movie’s production staff. The movie is now playing at 30 screens in Orange County.
