Dell Computer to Unveil New Notebooks: The two new notebook computers to be unveiled today may have the potential to catapult the personal computer maker to the ranks of major players in the mobile-computing market, analysts said. Earlier this year, Austin, Tex.-based Dell introduced several models in a move to re-enter the notebook market after a nearly two-year absence. But those models were designed by AST Research. Dell exited the portable computer market more than two years ago after product glitches and poor sales hampered its efforts. Analysts said the two new products are impressive models that should sell well to volume buyers in corporations, Dell’s typical direct-sales customer. Dell recently left the retail market to focus on direct sales.
