National Education Corp.: The Irvine provider of education and training products and services reported a second-quarter loss of $46.4 million, or $1.57 a share, which included a loss from discontinued operations of $47.4 million. In June, the company announced that it was discontinuing operations of its Education Centers subsidiary. For 1993’s second quarter, the company lost $3.5 million, or 12 cents a share. Revenue for the latest period rose 5% to $58.3 million from $55.7 million. For the first half, the company recorded a loss of $49.4 million, or $1.67 a share, compared to a loss of $7.9 million, or 26 cents a share, for the first six months of 1993. Six-month revenue increased 5% to $107.8 million from $103 million.
