Safeguard Health Enterprises Inc.: The Garden Grove dental plan said second-quarter profit dropped 49% to $493,000, or 10 cents a share, from $971,000, or 21 cents a share, a year earlier. Revenue for the period jumped 12% to $17.4 million from $15.5 million. For the first half of 1994, Safeguard profits dropped 18% to $1.55 million from $1.9 million--32 cents a share compared to the year-earlier 40 cents per share. Revenue for the first six months was $34.3 million, up 11% from $30.8 million. Officials said increased operating costs connected with a corporate expansion impacted second-quarter earnings.
