BURBANK : Storm Drains to Be Cleaned Before Rains
Thousands of storm drains in Burbank and nearby unincorporated areas will be cleaned this month in anticipation of wet weather in the fall.
Though the year so far has been relatively dry, storm drains are full of debris and tree foliage, among other things, officials said.
“It’s something that has to be done to prepare for the rainy season,” said Donna Guyovich, a spokeswoman for the Los Angeles County Department of Public Works.
Workers will begin Aug. 29 to use hoses to suck the storm drains clean. It will take about 45 working days to complete and is not expected to inconvenience motorists, Guyovich said.
Storm drains throughout the county are cleaned annually, she said.
