CLAREMONT : Harvey Mudd Exceeds Fund-Raising Goal
Harvey Mudd College, one of the Claremont colleges, has surpassed its fund-raising goal by accumulating $75.5 million during a five-year campaign.
The total is $5.5 million more than the college’s fund-raising goal and accounts for about $120,000 per student. The private school, which has been rated the top undergraduate engineering facility in the nation by U.S. News & World Report surveys, has 630 students.
“We are extremely gratified to have met, and exceeded our goal,” said Henry E. Riggs, the school president.
Harvey Mudd officials say the money was used to add new majors in biology and computer science, hire 17 new faculty members and boost enrollment by 15%.
In addition, the school was able to reconstruct the F.W. Olin Science Center and Beckman Hall and renovate several other buildings, expanding the physical plant of the campus by 24%.
