Entertainer Steve Allen will host the first Heritage Ball in September to promote ethnic pride among San Fernando Valley residents.

The event will be held 5:30 p.m. Sept. 25 at the Warner Center Marriott, 21850 Oxnard St. in Woodland Hills. It will raise funds for the first Valley Heritage Fair in April.

Guests, who will pay $50 per person, are invited to attend in either black tie, the native dress of another country or the traditional clothing of their own native country.

“We’re showing that we’re Americans, but we are proud of our heritage,” said Richard Hardman, president of Valley Heritage Fair Inc., the nonprofit organization holding the ball.

Allen, a popular television and film personality, will serve as master of ceremonies, Hardman said. Television weatherman Dr. George Fischbeck will be honorary chairman.

Valley Heritage Fair Inc. was founded in 1993 to showcase ethnic groups in the community. The fair, scheduled for April 22 and 23, will feature ethnic games, food and entertainment.
