AGOURA HILLS : City Asks Residents to Recycle Motor Oil

Share

The city of Agoura Hills wants residents to dispose of their used motor oil in an environmentally safe manner.

“People are dumping it in trash, in storm drains, in landfills, and it ends up in streams leading to the beach,” said Mike Kamino, the city’s senior planner.

Agoura Hills residents can bring their used motor oil to Agoura Hills 10 Minute Lube at 29338 Roadside Drive for recycling.

The facility is certified by the state as an authorized collection center, Kamino said. The service station contracts out to a hauler who takes the used oil to a recycling facility.

The establishment is open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.; Saturday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.; and Sunday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

There is a 20-gallon-per-day limit on the amount of oil that can be brought in, Kamino said.

Any oil that is suspected of being contaminated with other pollutants like antifreeze or brake fluid will not be accepted.
