SPECIAL TO THE TIMES

Gerrit Cromsigt continues to add track records at Saugus Speedway.

Saturday night he added to his track record with his seventh consecutive main-event victory, pulling away to win the 25-lap Pro Stock oval race despite running on seven cylinders for more then half the race.

“I felt it missing about the 10th lap and I figured we lost it,” the Pine Mountain Club resident said. “But we kept pulling away.”

Cromsigt had an opportunity to extend his streak to eight in the 15-lap figure 8 feature race. Final race results were unavailable by press time.

His victory Saturday was his ninth of the season and helped Cromsigt move into third place in the points standings behind Arleta’s Brian Kelley (224) and Scott Dinger of Simi Valley (203) entering the figure 8 main event.

Kenny Smith of El Monte clinched the Pro Four Modified points title with one race left after his seventh main-event victory.

In the Mini Stock division, Gregg Davidson of Burbank pulled away to win his first 20-lap main event and Gardena’s Jeff McCall moved closer to the points championship with one night left on the racing schedule.
