2 Irvine Companies Announce New CD-ROM Recording Systems

Two Irvine-based companies Monday announced new computer systems to allow users to record video or audio segments, company data or other digital information onto CD-ROMs.

Pinnacle Micro Inc. said it will begin selling a recording system for CD-ROM, which stands for compact disc, read-only memory, for $2,995 for Macintosh computers and $3,195 for computers using Windows. The system features double-speed recording, the company said. Shipments are to begin in September.

Separately, MicroNet Technology Inc. said that it has begun shipments of its own CD-ROM recording system for computers using Windows, priced at $2,495. The company said it plans to ship a Macintosh version by the end of the year.
