11 Grants Made to Help the Homeless

The City Council has unanimously awarded 11 community service organizations $179,000 in emergency shelter grants to benefit the homeless.

Under the council plan, the South Orange County YMCA will receive $79,000.

The following organizations will each receive $10,000: the Salvation Army, Shelter for the Homeless, Mercy House, Dayle McIntosh Center, Orange Coast Interfaith Shelter, Catholic Charities, Mental Health Assn., Interval House, Episcopal Service Alliance and the city’s Recreation and Community Services Agency.

The federal Department of Housing and Urban Development awarded the grant money to the city.
