Law: TV Program Addresses Abuse
Los Angeles City Atty. James Hahn will discuss domestic abuse Monday on cable television government access channels serving the city.
The program, “When Home is Hell,” will include interviews with victims, batterers and law enforcement officials. The programwill air at 7:30 p.m.
Ted Goldstein, executive producer of the program and communications director for the city attorney’s office, said about 20,000 domestic family-violence cases are prosecuted by the city attorney’s office each year.
“Domestic family violence is a major factor in criminal misdemeanor cases. We want to inform the public that the city attorney’s office is vitally concerned with domestic family violence, and we vigorously support prosecution of batterers, providing shelters for the victims and counseling for batterers,” Goldstein said.
