Move over Mercedes-Benz and BMW. Make way for the 1940 Fords and ’57 Chevys.

For those who love old cars and 1950s tunes, the Orange County Cruisin’ Assn. is having its 12th annual hot-rod show this weekend at the Orange County Fairgrounds.

The three-day car show, which runs from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, will feature an estimated 1,200 cars, including old Model A’s and T-buckets.

No cars built after 1969 will be entered.

“There will be lots of nice cars with lots of nice people,” said Jeff White, a board member of the association.

There will also be a ‘50s costume contest and two bands performing music from the same era: “Captain Cardiac and the Coronaries” and “Li’l Elmo and the Cosmos.”

Arts and crafts shows, model car contests and wild wagon competitions will also be held on the fairgrounds, where an estimated 15,000 people are expected, White said.

Tickets are $7.50 for ages 12 and older.
