David R. Holst has been appointed vice president and director of sales in California for Mellon Private Asset Management in Newport Beach, which represents the combined personal investment management and trust businesses of Mellon Bank Corp. and the Boston Co. Before joining the company, he spent nine years at San Diego Trust & Savings Bank, most recently as first vice president in marketing and sales. Holst has also been regional manager in business markets at IDS/American Express, and has held positions at Minnesota Mutual Life Insurance Co. and Procter & Gamble.
