Flamemaster Settles Suit With Courtaulds

Share

Flamemaster Corp., a Sun Valley maker of aircraft sealants, adhesives and coatings, announced the settlement of its $75-million, breach-of-contract and antitrust lawsuit against Courtaulds Aerospace Inc. of Glendale.

The suit was settled amicably, both companies said, and neither party admitted any liability. Details of the settlement were not disclosed.

The suit, filed a year ago in U.S. District Court in Los Angeles, accused Courtaulds and its British parent Courtaulds PLC of monopolizing the production, distribution and sale of high adhesion, temperature- and fuel-resistant sealing compounds.

The suit also accused Courtaulds of violating several agreements between the two companies to jointly develop and market new products.

The companies said a new agreement has been negotiated, allowing Flamemaster to continue to use technical data for the manufacture of certain sealants that have been developed by Courtaulds.
