OXNARD : Death Penalty Sought in Killing

Share

Prosecutors on Wednesday said they will seek the death penalty against a second defendant in the murder and rape of an Oxnard woman two years ago.

Frederick Lee Jackson, 26, of Oxnard is scheduled to go on trial in January for the 1992 slaying of Genoveva Gonzales, a mother of four. He faces charges of murder, rape and kidnaping.

Jackson’s co-defendant, Christopher Sattiewhite, was convicted in March of killing Gonzales and sentenced to death. During his trial, prosecutors contended that Jackson repeatedly raped and hit Gonzales in a car while it was driven by Sattiewhite.

“This girl was kidnaped, raped and then executed,” said Deputy Dist. Atty. Donald C. Glynn who is prosecuting the case. “It was our theory that he was an aider and abettor to that.”

Jackson and Sattiewhite already are serving 28-year sentences for raping a woman on an Oxnard beach in September, 1992.
