Santa Clarita / Antelope Valley : All-Nude Club Lease Terminated : Business: The landlord of the Santa Clarita restaurant and bar had obtained a court order to prohibit such entertainment.

Businessmen seeking to open the only all-nude strip club in the Santa Clarita Valley signed an agreement Thursday with their landlord that officially terminates their lease and ends a long-simmering controversy.

The restaurant and bar--called Castaic Junction: A Gentlemen’s Club--located just north of Magic Mountain, opened June 30 for one day of all-nude entertainment before it was quickly smothered in a cloak of legal restraints.

Attorneys for Newhall Land & Farming Co., the club’s landlord, immediately obtained a court order prohibiting nude dancing on the grounds that its lease did not allow “lewd or offensive” entertainment.

Officials for Newhall Land, the Santa Clarita Valley’s primary developer, said they wanted a first-class restaurant suitable for family dining, rather than an all-nude dance hall, said spokeswoman Marlee Lauffer.

So club operators clad their dancers in bikinis and lingerie and continued to perform until July 21, when sheriff’s deputies shut down the place for operating without the necessary county permits. The club reportedly did not have a food or entertainment license.

Santa Clarita residents complained loudly about the club, but operators there said they had a steady stream of patrons until it closed. Despite plans to reopen Aug. 15, the doors remained shut and club officials withdrew from the site one week later.
