Foreign Share of Japan’s Chip Market Rises: Foreign computer chip makers grabbed a record 21.9% of Japan’s market in the second quarter, the office of the U.S. trade representative said, surpassing the level set in a controversial U.S.-Japan microchip trade pact. This marked the third straight quarter that the foreign share of Japan’s semiconductor market topped the critical 20% mark under the trade deal. The rise compares to a 20.7% share in the first quarter.
