Alpha Microsystems: The Santa Ana company expected to announce today that it will begin selling a new computer system to help schools manage their cafeteria services.

The software system--known as PANDA--will be installed in about 70 schools in seven California school districts by the end of November, according to the company. Initial orders have a total value of $400,000.

The software, which runs on personal computers, makes use of student identity cards to help school officials analyze how much in federal and state meal reimbursement funds they should seek.
