Home Loan Rates Climb: Thirty-year fixed-rate mortgages averaged 8.66% this week, up from 8.51% last week, according to a national survey by the Federal Home Loan Mortgage Corp. It was the highest since July 14, when the average was 8.72%. On one-year adjustable-rate mortgages, lenders were asking an average initial rate of 5.49%, up from 5.47% last week. Fifteen-year mortgages averaged 8.15% this week, up from 8.03%.
