Faulty Light Causes Short at White House

WASHINGTON —
Three fire trucks rushed to the White House early Friday afternoon because of a report that someone smelled smoke but aides said there was no fire, just a short-circuit in a light fixture.
“A light fixture shorted out and there was a strong odor,” White House press secretary Dee Dee Myers said. “Nothing has burned at all.”
