Union Approves Lucky Stores Contract: About 1,700 warehouse employees and drivers overwhelmingly approved a contract Sunday that guarantees them job security and a raise of $1.70 an hour during the next four years. The vote ends the threat of a strike that would have interrupted deliveries to 235 Southland Lucky supermarkets. A strike set for last week had been stalled while negotiators worked out the new terms. About 92% of the members voted to accept the contract terms, but Ed J. Mireles, head of Teamsters Union Local 952 in Orange, would not release the numerical tally. The contract covers workers at warehouses in Buena Park, Fullerton and Irvine.
