PORT HUENEME : Police Association Backs 5 Candidates
The Port Hueneme Police Officers Assn. has endorsed five of the 14 candidates running for three City Council seats in the November election.
Saying the candidates will work to maintain the Police Department, the association endorsed Valorie Morrison, Frank McElfish Jr., Tony Volante, David Goodman and Robert Turner.
McElfish, Morrison and Volante intensively campaigned for the June ballot initiative intended to keep the Police Department from being disbanded and law enforcement services contracted through the Sheriff’s Department, association President Kenneth Dobbe said.
The other two candidates, Goodman and Turner, were recommended to the association by the Friends of Our Port Hueneme Police Department Political Action Committee, which has endorsed all five candidates.
The candidates are running for council seats that will be vacant as three incumbents step down.
