WESTLAKE : Police Open Office at Good Samaritan

Share

Office space donated by the Hospital of the Good Samaritan has become the Rampart Division’s newest police drop-in center.

Located in the hospital’s adjacent Weingart Guest House, 1254 W. 6th St., this is the division’s third such center. Two more are in the planning stages, Capt. Nick Salicos said.

Officers will fill out reports at the center and take care of administrative tasks outside of division headquarters. Foot and bicycle patrols will also conduct business in the center. Local residents will have access to the facility for Neighborhood Watch meetings and other community-based policing activities.

The hospital also donated telephone lines with voice mail and some office furniture. Additional supplies are being donated by the community.

The 35-unit guest house is primarily used to house the families of patients. The new drop-in center is on the second floor, in an unused area, said Paul Kells, vice president of facilities for Good Samaritan.

Officers will have access to the center around the clock, but there is no permanent staff.
