Ford Sales Jump in Japan: Even while it grouses at Japanese auto makers, Ford Motor Co. reported that its sales in Japan through August of this year totaled 8,744 units, up 152% over last year. Ford said it expects its vehicle sales in Japan for the full year to be triple the 5,400 cars and trucks it sold there in all of 1993. Still, Ford officials say, growth has been hampered by Japanese auto makers, who are reluctant to allow their dealers to sell products made by Detroit’s Big Three.
