Rueben Droughns dashed 75 yards for the game-winning touchdown with seven minutes remaining to lead Anaheim past Cypress, 13-8, in a nonleague game Friday night at Handel Stadium.

Droughns rushed for 265 yards in 32 carries as the Colonists pushed their season winning streak to four games. He has 744 yards rushing this season.

Cypress had a chance to win in the last two minutes, when David Wheeler found Bryan Huskey on consecutive plays for his first--and only--two completions. But two plays later, Wheeler threw a pass up for grabs that landed in the waiting arms of Anaheim’s Robert Droughns.

The score could have been more lopsided but for several missed opportunities by the Colonists. The most glaring came at the start of the fourth quarter with Cypress clinging to an 8-7 lead. A snap sailed high over the head of Cypress punter Bryce Brunsting, who was downed at the Centurion seven-yard line.

Two plays later, Droughns appeared to score from 10 yards, but the play was nullified by an illegal block, pushing the ball back to the 22. The Centurions stopped the next two plays cold and on fourth down, Anaheim kicker Tony Vasquez missed wide left on a 41-yard field goal attempt.

Anaheim struck first on a one-yard run by Rueben Droughns, but Cypress answered that drive with an eight-play, 75-yarder capped by Bobby Brito’s four-yard run. Brito’s run for the two-point conversion gave the Centurions (1-3) the lead.
