HELP’s Services

Share

I would like to convey our sincere thanks for the recent article featuring HELP of Ojai, Inc. As pleased as we are with the story, there are two important points that were not addressed.

First, it is important to know that we are a United Way of Ventura County member agency and have been since 1981. The ‘94-’95 funding, allocated to HELP of Ojai through the United Way allocation process, is $20,000. In addition, we receive United Way donor-designated gifts. As important as the financial support is, we also gain immeasurably from our overall affiliation with United Way and the 60-plus other member agencies. All of us in this county are fortunate to have such a strong, viable United Way.

Second, well-covered was the fact that HELP sponsors many senior programs. Missing was information regarding the many services HELP provides for the non-senior. HELP was intergenerational long before it became “the in thing.” Non-seniors are assisted in so many ways, for example, with counseling services, a food pantry and an after-school recreation program.
