Kathryn (Kitty) Cohen has been promoted from vice president of finance for Prime Ticket to general manager of the regional sports cable network.

Cohen, who becomes one of the highest-ranking female executives in sports television, replaces Roger Werner, who served as president of Prime Ticket for two years.

Werner left the company in August when the sale of Prime Ticket Tele-Communications, Inc. (TCI) was completed.

“Kitty has played an integral role in the network’s development and was selected after a thorough review of internal and external executives,” said Ed Frazier, president of Texas-based Liberty Sports, a division of TCI and the new parent company of Prime Ticket.

Cohen, a 1982 graduate of Colorado State with a degree in business administration who is also a certified public accountant, joined Prime Ticket in 1988 as the network’s finance controller. In 1989, she was promoted to vice president of finance.

Cohen said she doesn’t foresee any personnel changes at Prime Ticket. “The staff we now have in place is excellent,” she said.

Cohen said there are talks involving expansion of the network’s popular news show.
