Mailing Your Visa Bill? Charge It!
Post offices will accept credit cards for stamp purchases and mail services within the next two years, U.S. Postmaster General Marvin Runyon said this week.
Beginning in April, 1995, post offices in San Diego, Seattle and Denver will accept Visa, MasterCard and Discover cards, Runyon said. The program will be expanded to large post offices within the first year. All 33,000 U.S. post offices will take the cards by the end of 1996, Runyon said.
The Postal Service will also accept debit cards, which automatically deduct money from a user’s bank account. The program applies only to over-the-counter purchases.
