WATTAGE: The surviving members of Nirvana have made their first new recording together since the April suicide of Kurt Cobain, joining Pearl Jam’s Eddie Vedder on a song for the debut solo album by former Firehose and Minutemen bassist Mike Watt. Drummer Dave Grohl, bassist Krist Novoselic, Watt and Vedder teamed on a song titled “Against the ‘70s.”

The album, due in February or March on Columbia Records, is an alternative-rock all-star collection, with Watt’s other guests including Porno for Pyros’ Perry Farrell and Stephen Perkins, Sonic Youth’s Thurston Moore, Lee Ranaldo and Steve Shelley, Beastie Boy Adam Horovitz, Soul Asylum’s Dave Pirner, head Lemonhead Evan Dando and Henry Rollins.
