Iwerks Agrees to Batch of U.S., Asian Projects

Iwerks Entertainment Inc., a Burbank supplier of special-format movie theaters and virtual reality attractions, said it has signed agreements for six U.S.-based projects valued at $5.3 million.

The projects include a 100-seat simulation theater for Six Flags Over Texas in Arlington, Tex.; three projection systems for the MGM Grand Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, and two simulation theaters for Entertainment Concepts Inc. to be installed in Orlando, Fla., and Branson, Mo.

They also include a giant screen theater for the National Bowling Center in Reno; a simulation attraction for an entertainment Center in Lombard, Ill., and a 3-D animation system for Treasure Island Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas.

The company also signed agreements for five projects in Asia with a total value of $5.7 million. The projects include two giant-screen theater systems and one simulation theater at the Fancyworld Amusement Park in Taiwan. It also includes simulation theaters in South Korea, Thailand and the Philippines.
