WESTMINSTER : Library Collection Sale to Bring in $41,000

The Westminster School District has approved a plan to sell the library collection at Virginia K. Boos Elementary School for $41,000 and spend the money on new books for the district’s other campuses.

The Board of Trustees voted unanimously last week to sell the collection, which includes about 7,000 books. The school closed in June. Live Oak School District in Santa Cruz County purchased the collection, district spokeswoman Audrey Brown said.

School officials initially hoped to get about $27,000 for the book collection, Brown said, “so this is quite a bit more money than we expected. We’ll be able to buy almost 3,000 new books.”
