Austin Named Services Division President at Unihealth

Dr. John H. Austin has been named president of the professional services division of Burbank-based Unihealth. In the newly created position, Austin will oversee the activities of the medical group MSOs, medical foundations and medical groups affiliated with the nonprofit Unihealth network.

For the past two years, Austin has operated his own Northern California-based managed-care consulting firm.

Before that he was executive vice president of Health Plan of America, responsible for all aspects of its health care delivery system.

* Keith M. Beckwith has been appointed vice president of sales for Digital Sound Corp., a Carpinteria, Calif.-based supplier of high-capacity network-based message-processing systems. Beckwith, who has been with Digital Sound for eight years, will be responsible for worldwide sales efforts. Previously, he was a senior field sales executive at Intel Corp.

Richard C. Callister and Jennifer C. Sanders have joined Compensation Resource Group Inc. as senior vice presidents in the firm’s Pasadena headquarters.

Callister, who was previously with the Los Angeles law firm of Sheppard, Mullin, Richter & Hampton, has also been named general counsel.

Before joining CRG, Sanders was associated with Management Compensation Group in New York.

Compensation Resource Group Inc. is a national firm specializing in the design and implementation of executive compensation and benefit plans.

The investment banking and securities brokerage firm of Hambrecht & Quist Inc. announced the appointment of Daniel H. Case III as president and chief executive. William R. Hambrecht, founder of the firm, will continue as chairman and remain active in the firm. Case, has been with the San Francisco headquarters since 1979.

Steven T. Honda has been promoted to senior vice president and chief financial officer of Federal Home Loan Bank of San Francisco. Kenneth C. Miller has been named vice president of financial risk management. Before joining the bank in 1993, Honda held various positions at Bank of America, Security Pacific and First Interstate Bank of California.

Miller, formerly senior vice president and asset-liability manager at First Nationwide Bank, will oversee the bank’s $5-million mortgage-backed securities investment portfolio.

Jeff Jordan has been named vice president of development and planning for Disney Store, Worldwide in Glendale. Previously, he was vice president of strategic planning for the firm’s parent company, Burbank-based Walt Disney Co.
