From Times Staff and Wire Reports

The bodies of 29 Branch Davidians that remained unclaimed since April, 1993, when fire destroyed their compound in Waco, Tex., were given a pauper’s burial. They had been stored in a freezer at the medical examiner’s office in Ft. Worth since the end of the 51-day standoff between the cult and federal authorities last year. Cult leader David Koresh and about 80 followers died in the blaze that destroyed their compound April 19, 1993. The bodies of Koresh’s wife, Rachel, and their two children were among those buried amid rain and drizzle at the Restland Cemetery in Waco.
