MOZART’S BOYS: Vienna, Austria, is not only the city of culture, but was once home to many great composers: Schubert, Strauss, Mozart. The music of those geniuses is heralded by the Vienna Choir Boys, just shy of 500 years old and still in such demand that it now has four touring choruses around the world. . . . One of those choruses--complete with choirmaster, tutor and nurse--sings tonight at the Orange County Performing Arts Center.

MATCHMAKER? Alice Sommer of Huntington Beach wants a reward posted to help find whoever killed her son, Kenny, and his friend, Chen Blanchard, shot to death in March. Frank Di Bella, president of Planet Hollywood in Santa Ana, has offered to put up his own money--if the city of Huntington Beach will match it. . . . So far, city leaders there are reluctant, for fear this could set a costly precedent in such cases. Says a disappointed Sommer: “They seem more worried about cleaning the gum on the sidewalks than getting rid of the scum on the streets.”

CLASSIC GUY: Before Gene Autry was owner of the California Angels and a broadcasting mogul, you may remember he was a singing cowboy. American Movie Classics sure does. . . . The cable network, shown most places here, recaps Autry’s cowboy career with a 60-minute tribute Sunday (10:30 a.m. and 7:30 p.m.), “Gene Autry: Melody of the West,” narrated by Johnny Cash. People magazine says of it: “Footage from Autry’s first serial, ‘Phantom Empire,’ still looks pretty cool 60 years later.”

NEW TEXAS STORY: Texas has spawned countless blues and soul bands, but it’s safe to say none quite like Storyville, which plays the Coach House in San Juan Capistrano on Saturday (F29). . . . The group’s lead singer and songwriter is Malford Milligan, an albino African-American Buddhist. His religion, he says, “opens me up onstage. When I chant, it helps. . . . I bare my emotions in a song. It takes a lot of chutzpah . . . Buddhism gives me that courage.”
