BRIDGEPORT, Conn. —
A man who gave his bleeding, suicidal wife a gun to finish the job pleaded no contest to manslaughter.
Marland Maynard, 67, could get up to 10 years in prison at sentencing Dec. 9 in the death of his wife, Mabel. He entered the plea Wednesday.
Mabel Maynard, who had a history of mental problems, stabbed herself 14 times in the abdomen on March 4 before her husband came home from work. Maynard said his wife told him she was dying and pleaded with him for his pistol. Maynard reloaded the gun after it jammed.
