FTC Gives Final OK to Adobe-Aldus Deal: The green light for the consent accord between Adobe Systems Inc. and Aldus Corp., two computer graphics pioneers, settles charges that their merger could give them a lock on prices and reduce innovation. Adobe markets the Illustrator program and Aldus the Freehand program, both of which are used with Apple Computer’s Macintosh and Power Macintosh computers. Under the deal, the merged firm will sell the Freehand software within six months to Altsys Corp., a software maker based in Richardson, Tex., the FTC said.
