Counselor Shortage

I am writing with regard to the article “Schools Cope With Lack of Counselors.” I am a junior at Oak Park High School, and I agree that we need another counselor. There are so many students that if you have a problem and need to see the counselor, it might take as long as one week. That is too long to have to have to wait to get help. By that time you could take care of it yourself.

The school is hurting those students who need the help right away and can’t get it. What will happen when a student has a major problem? Who could they turn to? Will they have to wait a week or two before they can get the help? I know that we need another school counselor part time or full time. It would be a step in the right direction.
