D.A. Management Plan OKd by County
Moving to trim government costs, county supervisors have unanimously approved a plan to streamline the management of the district attorney’s office but give several of its top officials hefty pay raises.
As approved Tuesday, the consolidation plan trims $330,000 from the district attorney’s budget by eliminating five positions.
It also reorganizes the top echelon. Dist. Atty. Michael D. Bradbury will be assisted by a single top aide, instead of two that he has now, and by five other senior-level executives.
Most of these officials will get salary increases.
Although the supervisors approved the management plan, several of them urged the district attorney’s office to help toughen enforcement of health and safety code violations, particularly in outlying areas of the county.
Assistant Dist. Atty. Colleen Toy White, who presented the plan to the Board of Supervisors, promised to take the matter to Bradbury.
From the urgings of supervisors, she said the district attorney may want to replace one of the eliminated positions with an attorney who focuses on enforcing health and safety code violations.
