Ex-Yugoslav Federation Gets New U.S. Envoy

WASHINGTON —
Charles H. Thomas, a career foreign service officer, has been appointed special U.S. envoy to the former Yugoslav federation, the State Department said Wednesday. He succeeds Charles Redman, who has become ambassador to Germany.
Thomas, a former ambassador to Hungary, most recently was executive director of the State Department’s Senior Policy Group for Central and Eastern Europe.
