Yes, as you say in your Oct. 23 editorial “San Fernando’s Ridiculous Lease Law,” our city is only 2.4 square miles. This is exactly why we have to have a law to protect what little city property we now have, particularly the property in question.

This property, because of its location, is valuable. Los Angeles County has wanted it for years. Unfortunately past City Council actions have forced us, the people, to create a law to be sure it could not be sold, exchanged or leased, without the people’s vote.

* Your Oct. 23 editorial was entitled “Ridiculous Lease Law.” I say “Ridiculous Lease!”

The Los Angeles city attorney’s office will pay $6,300 per month for five years without any increase. The city of San Fernando will pay for all capital improvements, about $1,455 a month.

I think L. A. will have to pay its own phone bill. I’m surprised the city didn’t offer to pick up that too!

Somebody is getting a great deal and it isn’t the city of San Fernando.
