Medicine: Doctors Lauded for Research

Drs. Philip Clements of UCLA and Allan Metzger of the Westside will be honored Saturday for their research into scleroderma and lupus.

Lupus and scleroderma are autoimmune diseases that result in the hardening of organs. Together, the diseases affect nearly 2 million people, predominantly women ages 25 to 55. There is no known cure.

The dinner is being sponsored by the American Lupus Society and the Lupus Foundation of America.
