VENTURA : New Restrooms OKd for Plaza Park

Share

Plaza Park, at the corner of Chestnut Street and Thompson Boulevard, should be improved with new restrooms and possibly a gazebo, the Ventura City Council decided Monday.

The council requested bids on the construction project, estimating that the city would pay about $170,000 to replace old restrooms and to remove a nearby concrete structure once used as restrooms but now overgrown with dirt and weeds.

Ventura has also received nearly $50,000 in federal funds to pay about half the estimated $100,000 cost of the gazebo, city officials said. But the city would construct the gazebo only if there is enough money left from the restroom project, or if other funds are found for it in other accounts, the council decided.

Construction of the restrooms is expected to start in late December.
