BRENTWOOD : Won’t Demolish Monroe’s Home, New Owner Says

A movie director who recently bought the Brentwood home where Marilyn Monroe died more than 30 years ago said Tuesday he does not plan to tear down the house.

Michael Ritchie said he bought the four-bedroom, Spanish-style house on a secluded cul-de-sac off Carmelina Avenue in September, hoping to make it more accessible to the actress’s many fans.

Ritchie said he was incensed by the comments of a real estate agent who said that he was pondering whether to demolish the house and build another residence.

“I’m happy to have a chance to set the record straight,” he said.
