Homeless Woman’s Helpers Lose Bequest

DEDHAM, Mass. —
A state lawmaker and an aide who inherited about $200,000 apiece from a homeless woman they had helped were stripped of the money Tuesday by a judge who ruled that they took advantage of a mentally ill woman.
The woman, Mary Guzelian, had rewritten her will in 1981 to benefit Rep. Kevin Fitzgerald, his aide Patricia McDermott and a third person who acted as executor of the will, after McDermott helped Guzelian fight eviction.
