Nothing Wrong With Living in Torrance

I live in Torrance, and I resent Computer Software King Peter Norton’s remark (Hot Property, Oct. 16), “We’re ordinary. We’d be living in Torrance with crabgrass if it weren’t for a bit of luck.”

Well, I wouldn’t be living in Torrance if it weren’t for a lot of luck, but that’s another story. Before he uses its name in vain, Norton should learn about this city, with its Old Downtown, home of the best Mexican food this side of the border, its gracious old homes without crabgrass on eucalyptus-lined streets, its Civic Center with one of the finest libraries in the state, its Madrona Marsh Nature Preserve, home of some of the most elegant birds and ducks on our planet, with after-school science programs and Nature Walks, its Natural History Center in the planning/development stage.

And lots more--all close to El Camino College and Del Amo Mall, with its international style, not crabgrass.
