Letters Packing Peril

Share

Readers should exercise caution when using one of James T. Yenckel’s packing tips (“Is Your Luggage a Mess?” Aug. 28)--namely, “take old clothes on a trip and discard them along the way.” For a recent trip to Palm Springs, I packed an old swimsuit, but bought a new one there. I tossed the old one in the wastebasket. A few days later, a package arrived containing the discarded swimsuit and some thongs somebody else had left behind. Now if I leave anything behind in a hotel room, even paperback books, I also leave a little note letting the staff know it is being left behind on purpose.
