Countywide : Top Givers to Receive Accolades

The Society of Fundraising Executives Orange County chapter will mark National Philanthropy Day on Tuesday with a breakfast in honor of several top donors.

The event, entitled “Celebrate the High Tide of Giving,” begins at 7:15 a.m. at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in Irvine.

The group will present its Spirit of Philanthropy award to Charles and Nora Hester of Newport Beach, who for 35 years have volunteered their time and donated money to a variety of children’s service groups and nonprofit arts organizations.

More than a dozen awards will be presented at Tuesday’s breakfast, honoring community volunteers, philanthropists and fund-raising officers.

James M. Greenfield, senior vice president of development and community relations at Hoag Memorial Hospital Presbyterian in Newport Beach, will receive the Fund Raiser of the Year award.

Roberta Green Ahmanson, a noted philanthropist, will deliver a keynote speech.
