World Electric-Car Conference: The 12th International Electric Vehicle Symposium opens in Anaheim this week with an electric-car parade down Disneyland’s Main Street on Thursday. Exhibits that include the first-ever views of some domestic and foreign vehicles will be open to the public Saturday and Sunday at the Disneyland Hotel and Convention Center. Monday through Wednesday of next week, electric-vehicle experts from around the world will discuss the latest technology and the challenge of delivering commercial-quality cars to the public. An international event since 1969, the EVS-12 symposiums--in the shorthand of alternative-fuel vehicle promoters--have been held in various U.S. cities, Germany, France, Canada, Hong Kong and elsewhere. The 1994 program was developed by the European Electric Road Vehicle Assn., the Electric Vehicle Assn. of the Asia-Pacific and the Electric Vehicle Assn. of the Americas. A long list of auto makers, environmentalists and air-quality regulators are lined up to speak during the conference sessions. For information about the public exhibits, call (714) 778-6600; about the symposium meetings: Pam Turner at (415) 855-8799.
