Former Associated Press and CBS News foreign correspondent Murray Fromson has been named the new director of the University of Southern California’s School of Journalism.

Fromson, who had been serving as interim director since July 1, was officially named director on Nov. 15 at an alumni banquet.

A West Los Angeles resident, Fromson, 65, covered historic events such as the Vietnam War and Martin Luther King’s march to Selma and served as CBS correspondent in Moscow, covering three summit meetings.
